Improve your PTE Speaking score with pronunciation tips, practice strategies, and techniques for clear communication.
Pronunciation is crucial for PTE Speaking Section; right pronunciation boosts the score of PTE Speaking. Once the test taker gets familiar with the right pronunciation then he is easily able to understand the words and is able to speak in Speaking Task.
The improvement in pronunciation by practicing will make the test taker confident and will help to improve the overall scoring of the different tasks. Here are some strategies which can be applied to improve the way test taker pronounces the words in English:
1. Listen and Imitate Native Speakers
The best way would be to watch movies and series in English. Listening to the natural conversations helps a lot in understanding tone, rhythm and pronunciation. Try to mimic what you hear. Secondly, listen to Podcasts and Audiobooks, pay attention how words are stressed and pronounced, then try to repeat those sounds.
2. Pay attention on Particular Sounds
Consult Phonemic Chart, learn the sounds of English with the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). Knowing each sound helps you to hear and say them accurately.
Minimal Pairs Practice: Take pairs of words that differ by one sound (e.g. "ship" vs. "sheep") and practice them to become familiar with the subtle differences in pronunciation.
3. Record Yourself
What you speak record it using the Voice Recording App and compare it with the native speaker. Self-analysis will help you to know in which area you need to work and keep the track of your progress.

4. Use Tongue Twisters in English Class:
To bring clarity in the speech, practice tongue twisters. Start from the easiest one with the slow pace then keep increasing the difficult level of the tongue twister and increase the pace also with the passage of time. Regularize the practice.
Trying New Sounds in Tongue Twisters: Work on tongue twisters for those sounds that really give you trouble, such as "th" or "r".
5. Word stress and intonation patterns.
Focusing on the word stress elements will help you a lot improve the way you pronounce the words. In the English language, where certain syllables are more ‘sung’ than others, for instance, the rhythm with which meter is defined is based on a combination of stressed and unstressed syllables.
Secondly, focusing on rise and fall of intonation in English helps a lot.
6. Practise Pronunciation Through Online Tutorials
Download the apps which offer you practice of certain words and give exposure and exposure to the right accent of the target words.
Audio Recording with the Thesaurus: Thesaurus categories (for example Cambridge or Oxford) accompanying text have audio elements intending to enable listeners hear how words and phrases are articulated.
7. Practice with your partner or a teacher.

9. Confidence Building through Repetition
Spend 10-15 minutes on practicing reading material from newspaper, journals and articles. Practice new words daily, this leads to significant improvements over time. Start with the familiar words, repeat them, this will boost your confidence and the performance will improve.
Combining these techniques and practicing regularly will lead to noticeable improvements in pronunciation and this will improve your score not only in pronunciation but also in Oral fluency.
