In PTE, Personal Introduction is unscored and most of the training institutions skip this introductory part but it is utmost important as ever thought by anybody.

If the student starts with the proper introduction provided in the starting that warms up him and boast his confidence level. The test taker should not forget that the introduction is the rightly held in the starting to build the positive image in front of their preferred school and visa agency.

PTE-A Personal Introduction

 

PTE exam starts with the Personal Introduction in the Speaking section. There are 25 seconds for preparation and 30 seconds to speak on the sample questions provide in front of screen which help to get ready with the content of the introduction and speak efficiently. Once the microphone opens start speaking introduction based on the questions given on the screen.

The purpose of Personal Introduction in the PTE test is to introduce themselves in a brief. It is a warmup exercise which has a technical check on whether the microphone is working properly or not. Even it works as a profile building for the institutions where the student sends the score giving them the holistic view of the language skills of a test takers.

PTE Introduction is forwarded to the selected institutions, such as a university, visa office, or immigration agency where the score is sent for further assessment.

Providing personal introduction seems to be easy but once the student starts, he may get confused and may start speaking in a disorganized way due to lack of proper information structure. These questions cover the basic personal information if well-prepared and fully organized then there will be no problem in the flow and the content, this will build up the confidence and the test taker is able to start perform better. This is the reason introduction is considered to be a crucial one.

The test taker need to ensure that introduction covers all your basic information, including:

I am now working at [Company name] as a [ job title]. I usually speak [language] with my family and friends but speak English in an academic environment. I am taking the PTE Exam today to test my English skills and fulfil the criteria for study permit/ migration to [ country]. I wish to score high in PTE to pursue my desired goals.

 

The Sample of good PTE self-introduction is: 

Hi, My name is [Muskan]. I currently live in [India]. I graduated from Delhi University in the Commerce stream. I am now working at Reliance as a Marketing executive. I usually speak Hindi with my family and friends but speak English in an academic environment. I am taking the PTE Exam today to test my English skills and fulfil the criteria for study permit to Canada. I wish to score high in PTE to pursue my desired goals.

 

More Tips to perfect in introduction:

 

  • Prepare the structure of the introduction while choosing the content to speak and even the tone in which it has to be spoken. This will make your speaking better quality wise.
  • Some test takers try to ignore this part but while practicing the Mock Test, it’s better to practice introduction also at home.
  • Try to record yourself, do self-analysis and correct yourself wherever needed. 
  • Try to control the speed and the volume of the speech. Be in normal tone and speed, neither too slow nor too loud. The speed should also be normal.
  • This way, you can review your recordings, identify any mistakes, and fix them until you are satisfied with your personal introduction.
  • Keep your information precise, and be confident while speaking, don’t fumble in between.
  • Keep your information well organized, use conjunctions to make introduction logical and impressive.
  • Don’t try to speak unfamiliar words.
